Brightwater Science and Environmental Centre is a nature reserve 15 kilometres south of Saskatoon under the joint ownership of The Salvation Army and Saskatoon Public School Division.[1] The site is located just off of Highway 219.[2] 100 acres of the land make up The Salvation Army's Beaver Creek Camp while the remaining 60 acres are used by Saskatoon Public Schools for teaching school-aged children about the environment.[3] More than 2000 students visit Brightwater every year.[4]
The Salvation Army Beaver Creek campgrounds consist of seven cabins, a dining hall, an auditorium, nature trails, a baseball diamond, a basketball court, a heated outdoor pool, a playground, a trampoline, a fire pit, and an amphitheatre.[5] Captain's Mark and Jodi Dunstan are the Area Youth Secretary's for The Salvation Army Prairie Division, and are in charge of the camp. Murdy and Carole Hutton are the Site Managers and live at the camp all year round.
